Scholastic’s Sound Rhymes is a set of 47 large-format cards with rhymes that will help Kindergarten to Grade 2 students learn every sound of English.
The rhythmical, rhyming text and simple, age-appropriate activities will help children learn the foundational literacy skills that build a solid platform for understanding the alphabetic code.

Guide Card
The 46 Sound Rhymes Cards include an illustrated rhyme on the front that provides students with the opportunity to search forthe sounds in different words. An activity on the back of each card builds a variety of foundation literacy skills, including:
- Isolating and pronouncing phonemes
- Segmenting syllables
- Learning phoneme-grapheme relationships
- Rhyming
- Oral language skills
- Print knowledge
- Blending phonemes
Digital and Printable Cards
To facilitate interactive and flexible use, digital and printable versions of the Sound Rhymes cards are available:
- Digital versions support whole class discussion with projected illustrations and rhymes
- Printable versions give students the chance to find the spelling patterns for the focus sound on their own, to create their own illustration for the rhyme, and to make up their own verse using the phoneme-grapheme relationships they have learned
