Set Up the Fair

When the truck delivers your Fair, it’s GO time. Watch our quick Set-up Video to get started, or download our Merchandising Tips sheet.

Arrange Your Cases

You’re ready to roll! Organize your cases so they’re easy to navigate and fun to shop.

  • Before moving the cases into place, remove the boxes on top and set them aside for later.
  • Arrange the cases in a U shape from youngest to oldest. Grade levels and categories are listed on the side of each case. In a tight space? Organize cases in small clusters.
  • Raise case headers for shopper guidance and extra flair.
  • Hang directional signs to help shoppers find the books they’ll love.

Create Tabletop Displays

Tabletop book displays give kids more chances to find their new favourite read.

  • Place the tables near their corresponding cases, keeping books in the same category and grade level close together.
  • Display the books within kids’ reach. Use table signs from your Set-up Kit to make sure books are easy to find.
  • Put empty boxes to work. Place them on tables to create a tiered display.

Prep Your Cashier Table and Wireless Device

Help your checkout line move more quickly with a little advance prep and planning.

  • Set up your cashier’s table near the Fair’s exit to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
  • Stock your cash box with about $120 in change (you can never have enough quarters!)
  • Connect the wireless device and run a few tests in training mode to make sure it’s running smoothly. Check out our Wireless Terminal Instructions for a quick-start video and printable directions.
  • Student reorder slips and “Order Me” stickers are included to help with student reorders. Just like best selling items in any store, our most popular titles will be in high demand, and sell quickly.
Pro Tip!

School supplies and posters are popular last-minute purchases. Make poster selection easy: Hang and number one of each behind the cashier table.

Create a Last Chance Table

Included with the Book Fair is a NEW Last Chance Module. This box is special from the other modules.

  • Exclusive selections! These titles are so popular, they’re about to be out of stock! We have sent what we have left for your students.
  • Limited supplies! These books cannot be reordered, so act fast! Let everyone know that once they’re gone, they’re gone!

It is important to have this selection at its own table to avoid confusion with other books that can be reordered.

  • Choose an area near the Cashier Table so staff can help answer questions about the selection.
  • Use the included “Last Chance” sign to guide shoppers.

Note: Quantities and selection are limited and vary by Fair. Books in this selection are
final copies and are not available on the reorders list.

Pro Tip!

Consider purchasing these popular titles with Scholastic Dollars at the end of your Fair to add to your library!
