How to Celebrate Small Victories with Students

Give your students a boost of confidence every time they walk through your classroom door. You have a unique superpower to make your students feel seen. Be their biggest cheerleader for even the smallest of accomplishments.

Here are a few ways you can make a big deal out of their little victories:

Praise Goes a Long Way

Celebrate your students’ successes by offering praise in the right way. Be more encouraging to students and focus more on the process rather than the outcome by starting your sentences with “I notice…”

Use Sticky Words of Encouragement

Create long-lasting joy with jotted notes. Using sticky notes is a quick and easy way to write short personalized notes of affirmation, praise and encouragement.

Shout it Out!

Build your classroom community and encourage your students to give each other shout-outs for their hard work. Dedicate some class time for your students to go around and share their shout-outs for the day.

Connect with Parents

Share the good news with parents about their child’s accomplishments! Send home a letter of congratulations or give your student the opportunity to call home to share the news themselves.

Give an Extra Boost

Celebrating the small victories not only builds their confidence, but also builds their love for learning. Giving them the opportunity to be seen and heard makes all the difference.
