Immersing your child in a good book series can do wonders for their excitement to read independently. Choosing from an array of teacher-approved book series, picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, and YA novels will open your child\u2019s world up to different plots and characters they\u2019ll love to follow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Series are also a great way to entice beginning and striving readers to find something they\u2019ll enjoy as their reading and comprehension skills develop. If you\u2019re looking for ways to get your child hooked on a series, try the following three tips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

1. Start With a Movie or Show<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One great way to spark your kid\u2019s interest in reading is to find a book series that is connected to a show or a movie that they already enjoy or that piques their imagination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, your child may be familiar with the adventures of Dog Man<\/a> or Gabby\u2019s Dollhouse<\/a>, so choosing these books can encourage them to continue following the characters\u2019 adventures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, older readers will love watching popular series, like Goosebumps<\/a>, The Hunger Games<\/a>, and Harry Potter<\/a>, come to life on the big screen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is also a wonderful opportunity for your child to make real-world connections. When you’re done watching, ask them how they\u2019d imagined things in the books and how they compare to the shows and movies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Harness Their Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can foster your child’s passions by introducing them to stories related to their interests. For example, if your young reader is captivated by nature, they’ll love reading the Owl Diaries<\/a>. Alternatively, fans of nonfiction will enjoy diving into the Who Would Win…?<\/a> series, which pits animals against each other in epic imaginary battles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your kid loves laugh-out-loud adventures, then look no further than the hilarious Dog Man<\/a> and The Bad Guys<\/a> series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Start With Book One… and Carry on! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okay, so this one’s not so sneaky \u2014 and it might sound obvious \u2014 but starting with book one is often the best way to explore a series because it builds the world from the ground up. This is the book that introduces the characters, setting, and the rules of the world. Jumping in later can sometimes make it harder to connect the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
